Personnel Changes at DaimlerChryslerAUBURN HILLS, Mich. and STUTTGART, Germany, Oct. 19 -- At a meeting in Tokyo today, the DaimlerChrysler Board of Management made several personnel changes to the company's vehicle business. Effective November 1, 1999, Gary L. Henson, who has more than 35 years of experience in the automotive industry, has been named Executive Vice President of Manufacturing. Henson was previously Senior Vice President Manufacturing at DaimlerChrysler Corporation. In addition, Dr. Annette Winkler, current branch manager in Braunschweig, will take over as Director of DaimlerChrysler Belgium Luxemburg on November 1, 1999. She replaces Reinhard Lyhs, who became Director of DaimlerChrysler France on October 1, 1999. The current Director of the Bremen branch office, Ulrich Kowalewski, will become Director of the Mercedes-Benz branch in Munich. He replaces Wolfgang Schrempp, who will become Director of DaimlerChrysler's Italian sales organization. Also, Dr. Rainer Thiel, the current Director of Globalization and Regional Strategy, will become Vice President Engines, effective November 1, 1999. And, effective November 1, 1999, Dr. Joachim Schmidt, former Director of Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars will join the divisional board of Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars/smart as Senior Vice President Sales Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, the position previously held by Dr. Dieter Zetsche.
