SelectCare Joins Metro Detroit Ford Dealers, Oakwood and St. John In Breast Cancer Awareness CampaignDETROIT and TROY, Mich., Oct. 18 -- SelectCare, Inc. of Troy, Metro Detroit Ford Dealers, St. John Health System and Oakwood Healthcare System have teamed up with Lifetime Television to raise awareness about breast cancer. The organizations are sponsoring PSAs on AdNex Detroit and distributing breast cancer information at the 31 local Metro Detroit Ford Dealers. "Get the Facts-Seize the Power" is the Lifetime Television campaign which encourages women to know their body, their risks of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection. The campaign encourages women to take charge of their health, because when found early, breast cancer can be successfully treated. The main risk factors of breast cancer include family history, never giving birth or giving birth after age 30 and long menstrual history (menstrual periods starting early and ending late in life). The Lifetime schedule will run through October and will reach approximately 70% of women age 35 and over. SelectCare's HEDIS results show 75.9% of women age 52 to 69 years received at least one mammogram during 1997-1998, which is 4.7% more than the 1997 Quality Compass National Average. Lifetime's web site, http://www.lifetimetv.com , will provide extensive information about breast cancer and links to other sites with more information about the disease.
