AKRON, Ohio--Oct. 18, 1999--Roadway Express, Inc. announces that Bob Chess, director of human resources, has been selected as winner of the Employee Benefit News' (EBN) 1999 Benny Award for the Retirement Planning category and his overall excellence in employee benefits and the human resources field.Chess was presented his award on October 10, by Roger Valine, CEO of Vision Service Plan and corporate sponsor of this year's Benny Awards, at the magazine's annual Benefits Management Forum & Expo in Nashville, Tenn. Chess' 27 year professional career has been dedicated to the field of human resources. His experience includes the areas of compensation, benefits, labor relations and employment. He joined Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1972 and transferred to Goodyear Aerospace in 1986. Chess joined Roadway Express in 1990 as compensation manager and became Director of Human Resources in 1997.
