Hertz Equipment Rental Continues its North American and European ExpansionPARK RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 18 -- Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Hertz Corporation and a leading construction and industrial equipment rental business in the United States, Canada and Europe, announces the opening of 10 new greenfield locations and the acquisition of three equipment rental companies in North America. This brings to 257 its total number of North American locations. In addition, the company announces the continued expansion of its European operations, with an acquisition in Spain bringing to 65 its total locations in Europe. New corporate locations recently opened include Sarasota and Daytona Beach, FL; Kannapolis and Kings Mountain, NC; Atlantic City, NJ; New Castle, DE; Gonzales, LA; Chicago, IL; Murfreesboro, TN and St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada. Companies acquired by Hertz Equipment include Lightning Rental, located in Ontario, Canada, Ranco Rental, with locations in Utah, and Ben's Rental, located in Oregon. In Spain, HERC's expansion includes the acquisition of the J Pons Group, making Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation the largest equipment rental company in that country. J Pons has locations in Alicante, Southern Madrid and Valencia. These acquisitions represent an aggregate net revenue of approximately $8 million. "With an increasing number of companies opting to rent, rather than own, equipment, the geographic coverage provided by these acquired locations, coupled with HERC's extensive product line, gives HERC a competitive advantage in meeting the growing needs of the construction industry," said Gerry Plescia, President of Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation.
