Forum Explores Passion and Romance of Automotive DesignInternational Group of Designers Gathers to Discuss 'Form Follows Passion' at 1999 Motor Press Guild Design Forum ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 15 -- A stellar group representing some of the top automotive designers in the world will gather for the 1999 Motor Press Guild Design Forum next week. The free event is open to preregistered media, MPG members, design students and invited guests. Appearing on the panel are representatives from American, Japanese and European automakers, who will address current design trends and philosophies under the forum's theme - "Form Follows Passion: The Continuing Romance of Automobile Design." Those scheduled to discuss design philosophies and trends in design include: Peter Brock, international design consultant Ed Golden, design manager, Ford Motor Company Mark Jordan, design manager, Mazda R&D of North America Dave Merak, chief designer, American Honda Simon Padian, design manager, Saab Charles Pelly, president, Designworks USA BMW Tom Tjaarda, international design consultant Tom Tremont, design director, DaimlerChrysler Pacifica Kip Wasenko, chief designer, Cadillac Moderating the panel will be Del Coates, design consultant and educator. The event will take place at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, 700 W. Convention Way, Anaheim, Calif. The lunch and program are complimentary, but attendance is limited and by invitation only. On site registration will start at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is scheduled to begin at noon and the Design Forum will start at 1 p.m. MPG's president is B.J. Killeen.
