Caliber Logistics Changes Name to FDX Supply Chain Services
HUDSON, Ohio--Oct. 15, 1999--Caliber Logistics Inc., consistently recognized as a leader in the contract logistics industry, is changing its name to FDX Supply Chain Services.The new name more closely aligns the company to its parent organization, FDX Logistics, Inc., which is one of the major subsidiaries of the $17 billion holding company, FDX Corp.
"The renaming of Caliber Logistics culminates several months of restructuring designed to strengthen our organization and extend our contract logistics services on a global basis," said Joseph C. As part of a strategic alignment, FDX Supply Chain Services will focus on three distinct service offerings:
1. Transportation Management Services, including inbound and outbound mode management on a global, national, or regional scale. 2. Integrated Services, combining transportation management services in conjunction with dedicated transportation, facilities management, or value-added services such as returns management, sequencing, postponement, and merge-in-transit. 3. Consulting and Professional Services, including the analysis and design of supply chain and distribution operations to optimize performance.
As the company continues to seek best-service and low-cost solutions for customers, FDX Supply Chain Services will also utilize the market-leading capabilities and resources of other FDX companies, as appropriate.
