    HOUSTON, Oct. 14 -- Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
announced today that Gary A. Lillian has been named senior vice president of
marketing and advertising for Jiffy Lube International. Lillian will be
responsible for repositioning the Jiffy Lube brand in line with changing
consumer expectations and for developing strategies to capture a larger share
of the do-it-for-me (DIFM) installed motor oil market. In addition, he will
supervise the Jiffy Lube public relations efforts and customer service area.
"Gary is an accomplished marketing executive and entrepreneur, whose
imagination, experience and enthusiasm will help build a more market-focused
organization at Jiffy Lube International," said Marc Graham, president of
Jiffy Lube International. "He comes to us at a critical time as we focus on
re-energizing the Jiffy Lube growth model and capitalizing on future trends in
the growing do-it-for-me automotive service market."
Lillian has 19 years of brand management experience, most recently as
president and founder of Spiritisimo, Inc., where he was the driving force
behind the creation and introduction of a new beverage brand. He served as
vice president of National Marketing for the Pizza Hut division of PepsiCo,
Inc., from 1996 to 1998. From 1991 to 1995, he held positions of increasing
responsibility with PepsiCo's Sabritas division in Mexico City and with
PepsiCo Foods International in Dallas, Texas. Early in his career, Lillian
held management positions with Culinary Brands, Inc., and The Clorox Company.
Lillian is a graduate of Northwestern University. He received a BA in
Communication Studies and Economics in 1978 and an MBA in Marketing from the
Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 1980.
Fast lubes were pioneered in 1979 by Jiffy Lube, now a wholly owned
subsidiary of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company. With the merger of Pennzoil and
Quaker State in December 1998, some 600 Q-Lubes were added to the more than
1,500 Jiffy Lube service centers across the country. Conversion of the
majority of these Q-Lube service centers to the Jiffy Lube banner is underway.
