Ford Vice President Ron Goldsberry to RetireDEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 13 -- Dr. Ronald E. Goldsberry, vice president - Global Service Business Strategy, has elected to retire at year-end, Ford Motor Company President and Chief Executive Officer Jac Nasser announced today. "In his 16 years with Ford, Ron has served with great distinction and earned the respect and admiration of colleagues all over the world," Nasser said. "His spirit, vision and passion for excellence will be missed. We wish him a healthy and happy retirement." Goldsberry has served in his present position since January 1, 1999. He is responsible for developing and implementing Ford's aftermarket and service business strategies worldwide. He previously had been global vice president - Ford Customer Service Division since January 1997, directing Ford's worldwide parts sales, service, dealership marketing and merchandising, dealer training and customer satisfaction initiatives. Goldsberry joined Ford Customer Service Division as general marketing and sales manager in 1991, and was named vice president and general manager of the Division in 1994. Goldsberry's association with Ford Motor Company began in 1983 when Ford purchased Parker Chemical Company from the Parker Division of Occidental Chemical Corporation. He was vice president and general manager of the Parker Division at that time. Following the acquisition, he was named president and chief operating officer of Parker Chemical. After Ford sold Parker Chemical in 1987, Goldsberry was appointed general manager of the Plastic Products Division of Ford's Automotive Components Group. In 1990, he was named executive director, Sales and Service Strategies, for Ford North American Automotive Operations. Early in his career, Goldsberry held management positions at Gulf Oil Corporation, the Boston Consulting Group and Hewlett-Packard Company. As a captain in the U.S. Army, he was a research chemist at the NASA Ames Research Center. A native of Wilmington, Del., Goldsberry graduated summa cum laude from Central State University with a B.S. in chemistry. He also holds an M.B.A. in finance and marketing from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Michigan State University. Goldsberry is the recipient of many academic, industry and civic awards and was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 1993. He is a member of the boards of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Michigan State University Alumni Association, Central State University, Unum Provident Corporation, Case Corporation, WTVS-TV in Detroit and the Automotive Hall of Fame. A mentor over the years to scores of young people, Goldsberry currently chairs the $7-million "Lighting the Spark" fund-raising campaign for the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP). DAPCEP is a 23-year- old privately financed effort to motivate and academically prepare minority youth to pursue careers in engineering, science and mathematics-related fields.
