Delphi Automotive Systems Aftermarket Strategy Unfolds With Appointment of Aftermarket General ManagerPARIS, Oct. 13 -- Delphi Automotive Systems revealed additional plans for expansion in the automotive aftermarket today at the Equip 'Auto vehicle and aftermarket show. The company's aftermarket initiative will be led by Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, who was today appointed Delphi general manager, Aftermarket. The announcement was made today by J.T. Battenberg III, Delphi Automotive Systems CEO, chairman and president. Ordonez will head a newly formed dedicated aftermarket division within Delphi. Delphi will reorganize aftermarket activities into a single aftermarket division with headquarters in Troy, Mich., and regional headquarters in Paris, Tokyo and Sao Paulo. Mr. Ordonez is an automotive industry veteran with experience in several sectors of the automotive manufacturing and parts businesses at Delphi Automotive Systems and General Motors Corporation. "Delphi is prepared to strengthen our aftermarket presence," said Battenberg. "We believe there are significant opportunities to further diversify our customer base and serve our vehicle manufacturer and aftermarket customers throughout the life of the automobile. Frank's operating experience, excellent creativity and dedication to customer service will guide our increased aftermarket activity." Delphi currently serves the aftermarket with a broad range of original equipment quality products. In the aftermarket, Delphi will offer many of the products in the company's extensive original equipment product line sold to the world's top vehicle manufacturers. Delphi also intends to apply its global manufacturing, distribution and engineering network to enhance aftermarket customer support. In addition to the announcement of the new division, the company today revealed a new aftermarket logo, merchandising and promotion strategy designed to increase awareness and sales of aftermarket products. Ordonez will initially focus the new aftermarket division's efforts on the European aftermarket, where strong aftermarket brands and sales and distribution channels are present. Mr. Ordonez most recently headed a team within Delphi dedicated to developing the company's aftermarket strategy. Previously Ordonez was director of finance and occupant protection business team leader for Delphi Interior Systems. Ordonez has held several purchasing and capital management positions at Delphi, having responsibility for a variety of functions including joint venture and GM partnership management. Ordonez began his career in 1970 at Cadillac Motor Car Division. He held positions of increasing responsibility at General Motors, including assistant to the group executive of the Mechanical Components Group, where he served in a planning capacity. Before joining Delphi he was finance director for GM Worldwide Purchasing. A native of Havana, Cuba, Ordonez holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree in business administration from the University of Detroit. He is a member of the board of directors of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, a position he has held since 1996.
