Delphi Offers Broad Product Portfolio, Including Re-Manufactured Parts, To Aftermarket Customers
PARIS, Oct. 13 -- Delphi Automotive Systems'
broad portfolio of high-quality aftermarket products provides the company with
a competitive edge as it bolsters its efforts to increase sales and brand
support in the worldwide aftermarket. The company unveiled its aftermarket
strategy at Equip 'Auto, a vehicle and aftermarket show that takes place every
other year in Paris.
Delphi, which is among the top five aftermarket suppliers in the world,
currently produces a wide variety of aftermarket products, including air
conditioning systems and thermal parts, security systems, batteries, shock
absorbers, filtration and lubricants. With an original equipment (OE) product
portfolio of 168 items, Delphi intends to leverage its OE experience and its
global distribution network to offer a diversified line of aftermarket
products that covers all vehicle makes while incorporating the quality and
technological innovations that have made Delphi the world's largest supplier
of automotive components and systems. Delphi's aftermarket alternators and
starters currently have 97 percent market coverage in Europe.
"Delphi Texalarm products, which represent our line of aftermarket
security systems in Europe, are the top-selling security systems in France,"
said Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, general manager of Aftermarket, Delphi
Automotive Systems. "And our air conditioning systems, now sold under the
Diavia Auto Air Conditioners by Delphi brand, own 75 percent of the market
share in the European aftermarket. Our ability to maintain OE quality
standards, our engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and the equity of
our existing product brands will make Delphi the overall supplier of choice in
the worldwide aftermarket."
In addition to the previously mentioned aftermarket products, Delphi also
produces ignition cables, switches, oxygen sensors, steering and suspension
components and gas springs. To complement this array of aftermarket
offerings, the company is introducing a line of re-manufactured products that
will initially include starters and alternators. Delphi's starters and
alternators are re-manufactured to OE specifications, which include complete
dismantling, cleaning and grease removal, followed by sand blasting and
testing of every critical component. All worn components are then replaced
and the finished units are individually tested to ensure that their
performance meets Delphi's stringent quality standards.
"Our advantage in the aftermarket is that we have the technical knowledge,
product portfolio and distribution network to equip virtually every vehicle on
the road today. These capabilities and our proven track record of developing
products that meet or exceed the expectations of our customers will serve as
the foundation to expand our aftermarket business," Ordonez said.
Delphi Automotive Systems, with headquarters in Troy, Mich., USA, is a
world leader in automotive component and systems technology. Delphi's three

Architecture; and Electronics & Mobile Communications -- provide comprehensive
