Prominent Houston Auto Shredder Changes Owners

HOUSTON--Oct. 12, 1999--Rose Acquisition Group L.L.C. has purchased Rose Metal Recycling Inc., which was a family owned business founded in 1938 by Edward Rose and is one of Houston's three automobile shredders. The Company now will be doing business as Rose Metal Processing, according to the new principals -- L.J. "Buzz" Black, president and CEO, and Jerry W. Bailey, vice president and COO. The company will continue operations at 2902 Center Street in the historic Heights area located approximately one mile west of downtown Houston.
According to Bailey, the Company's primary mission also remains unchanged -- that of a fully integrated processor of ferrous and non-ferrous materials as part of the nation's recycling stream. Rose Metal has and will continue to provide raw materials for steel mills throughout the United States and Mexico.
Black has more than 38 years of experience in the scrap industry, first as a corporate executive for Commercial Metals in Dallas and then as the owner operator of Industrial Salvage Company in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bailey, a native Houstonian and Rice University graduate, was the general manager for the Rose family and was previously a regional manager for the shredding and detinning divisions of Proler International Corp., which had been based in Houston.
"Our strategic vision is to position Rose Metal Processing for the new millennium by implementing modern business and processing practices, and by increasing our production volumes," said Bailey. "We're very excited about the future and our plans for taking Rose Metal to the next level."
According to the new owners, their goal is to position Rose Metal Processing for entry into the next century and as a company with the reputation of "doing it right."
Rose Metal Processing is a member of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI)., the Recycling Coalition of Texas, the Houston Metal Processors and Recyclers Association Inc., and Clean Houston Partnership.
