UNOVA President Larry D. Brady Elected to Board of Directors

    WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--Oct. 7, 1999--The Board of Directors of UNOVA, Inc. (www.unova.com) has elected Larry D. Brady a member of the board, effective September 29, 1999. Brady joined UNOVA in August 1999 as President and Chief Operating Officer of the $2 billion industrial technologies company. He previously had been President of FMC Corporation in Chicago until June of this year.
    As UNOVA's President and COO, Brady is responsible for the Company's two business segments -- Automated Data Systems and Industrial Automation Systems. The Company's Automated Data Systems segment, represented by Intermec Technologies Corporation, a UNOVA subsidiary, is the second largest competitor in the growing, global market for data collection and transactions. A developer, manufacturer and integrator of automated data capture, wireless networking and mobile computing systems, the Company's products include technologies that provide employees with a real-time interface between enterprise information systems and remote working locations.
    UNOVA's Industrial Automation Systems segment has become North America's largest builder of machining systems for global automotive, off-road, diesel engine and aerospace manufacturing industries. Serving primarily the global metalworking industries, the Company also has expanded into composite processing technologies.
    Brady's career with FMC began in 1978 as planning director for the Special Products Group. He was elected Vice President of the Corporation in 1984, Executive Vice President and Director in 1989, and President in October 1993. Prior to joining FMC, Brady held senior management positions at TRW, Inc. and Beatrice Foods Company.
    Brady, 56, received a B.S. degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and is a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School, Boston, Mass., where he earned his M.B.A. degree. He serves on the Board of Tenneco, Inc.; the Advisory Board of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management; and the Board of Trustees of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
