Collins & Aikman Strengthens European Operations
    TROY, Mich., Oct. 7 -- Collins & Aikman today
announced a series of management appointments to the Company's European
Automotive Interior Systems Group.  The appointments are expected to enhance
the focus and efficiency of Collins & Aikman's European operations.
    The appointments included the following:

   --  Graham Tompson to Senior Vice President of Development and Product
        Marketing, from Senior Vice President - Sales.  Tompson will be
        based in Heidelberg, Germany and will report directly to Mike
        Weston, President of Collins & Aikman's European Automotive
        Interior Systems Group.
   --  Phil Cooper to Director of Carpet and Acoustics Development, NVH
        and Testing, from Manager, Development and Acoustics. Cooper will
        be based in Leamington Spa, U.K. and will report directly to
        Tompson.
   --  Henry Jannson to Director of Plastics Technology, Development and
        Benchmarking from Manager of Technical Development. Jannson will be
        based in Skara, Sweden and will report directly to Tompson.
   --  Ken Alexander to Development Manager of Control Systems and Safety
        from Concept Engineering Manager. Alexander will be based in
        Leamington Spa, U.K. and will report directly to Jannson.
   --  Hans Roessle to Development Manager of Surfaces and Structures from
        Manager, Projects and Development. Roessle will be based in Vastra
        Frolunda, Sweden and will report directly to Jannson.
