A special Million Dollar Alley display will spotlight exotic automobiles with six-figure price tags. A Memory Lane exhibit presents a room full of classic cars from yesteryear, reaching back to the 1920s. "We've always had exceptional variety at our show," said Carlos Planas, show chairman, "and this is our last show of the century. So we've pulled out the stops to welcome the new millennium." Opening day press conferences are scheduled for the North American or regional debut of new models from Saab, Toyota, Daewoo, Hyundai, and Ford. Worldwide coverage via streaming media is available on The Auto Channel Internetwork (http://www.theautochannel.com), which will carry vehicle introductions, celebrity interviews, exclusive video footage, and other features during the opening weekend. The auto show's flagship television station, CBS affiliate WFOR-TV, and Telemundo network affiliate WSCV-TV, also will originate special programming for this major auto exhibit. "The Chrysler 300M is our Official Show Car this year," said Planas, "and visitors can register to win another hot Chrysler -- the 2001 retro hybrid PT Cruiser." Fans of the NASCAR and CART racing circuit will enjoy a Homestead-Miami Speedway exhibit featuring such vehicles as the #1 Pennzoil Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the Miller Penske PC-11 driven at the Indianapolis 500 by Al Unser, and a pair of high-tech models from Mosler Automotive of Riviera Beach, Fla., -- a Raptor GT-1 and a prototype. Officials will have information on the November 14 inaugural NASCAR Winston Cup Pennzoil 400 race at Homestead. The South Florida International Auto Show is produced by the South Florida Auto-Truck Dealers Association, which comprises more than 220 dealers in three counties.
