Tenneco Packaging Adds CFO, CIO to New Leadership Team

    LAKE FOREST, IL.--Oct. 5, 1999--Tenneco Packaging today announced the appointment of two key executives to its leadership team. Andrew A. Campbell has been named Chief Financial Officer, effective with the spin-off of Tenneco Packaging, and James L. Hatch has been named Chief Information Officer.
    As Chief Financial Officer, Campbell will play a key role in assuring the newly independent company meets its financial objectives and delivers shareholder value.
    Campbell has extensive experience as the key financial executive at both public and private companies such as Dominick's Finer Foods, Navistar and 18 years at General Electric. Most recently he has been acting Chief Financial Officer of Foamex International, Inc., a $1.5 billion NASDAQ company.
    As Chief Information Officer, Hatch's responsibilities will include developing a long-term strategy for information management that will optimize performance and productivity and provide cost-effective service to our organization. All information management teams will report directly to him.
    Hatch comes to Tenneco Packaging with significant experience in the field of information management, communication planning, global computer operations and network services. Previously he served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Case Corporation, Treasure Chest Advertising, Inc. and RJR Nabisco, Inc. He also has held senior level positions with General Motors.

    Tenneco has announced the spin-off of Tenneco Packaging to shareholders, which is expected to occur in early November.

    Other members of the senior leadership team include:

- James V. Faulkner, Jr., vice president and general counsel;
- Paul J. Griswold, senior vice president, protective and flexible packaging;
- Peter J. Lazaredes, vice president, general manager foodservice, institutional, supermarket and industrial packaging;
- James D. Morris, vice president, general manager operations; and
- John Potempa, vice president, employee relations and administration.
