Best-Ever September Sales Reported By Toyota's Chicago Region
CHICAGO, Oct. 5 -- Toyota's Chicago Region posted record car
sales in September of 6,105 vehicles, a 15 percent increase over September
1998 when sales totaled 5,332.
Combined car and truck sales totaled 6,719, a record for September and an
18 percent increase over last year when 5,683 vehicles were sold.
"The sales momentum for the Chicago Region has carried over to September
by posting its sixth straight month of record sales for cars," said Dave
Camden, general manager of the Chicago Region. "North-American built vehicles
-- Sienna, posted a 32 percent sales increase, and Camry and Corolla vehicles,
posted sales gains of 23 percent and 20 percent, respectively."
Toyota's new full-size truck, Tundra, built in Princeton, Indiana,
contributed to the Region's record month. Along with the Tacoma, truck sales
were almost double those of last September.
"Our Chicago Region dealers closed out the 1999 model year as one of their
best-ever," Camden said.
The Toyota Chicago Region includes 114 dealers in Illinois, Indiana,
Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
