USA assembly plant in Smyrna, Tenn. The package could be expanded to include three additional hoses after testing has been finalized. "Nissan and Plumley worked together very closely in the development of these new hoses, which were critical to meeting low-emission requirements," said Jon Sussman, group project engineer for fuel and control system design at Nissan Research and Development. "Plumley has worked hard to support the development initiatives of Nissan on this program as well as past projects. Our relationship with Plumley, which has always been strong, continues to grow with the launch of this new product." The flouroelastomer (FKM) veneered low permeation vent and evaporative emission hoses will be created from materials mixed at Plumley's Paris, Tenn., facility. The in-house mixing facility is offered to Dana customers as a support center to create customized, more cost-effective specialty elastomers in a quality controlled environment. "Our technology enables us to create materials precisely to our OEM customers' unique specifications," said Stephen Plumley, director of sales and technology for extruded products at Dana's Plumley Division. "Our organic rubber materials are mixed in-house, where we specialize in high value-added materials such as FKM, which feature lower permeation to help meet government emissions requirements."
