Orbit/FR Announces Innovative Cellular Measurement System
Advanced Spherical Cellular Near-field Technology (ASCENT)Will Revolutionize Cellular Handset Testing
MONTEREY, Calif.--Oct. 4, 1999--Orbit/FR, Inc. today announced the introduction of its new innovative cellular measurement system, a complete turnkey solution for cellular handsets and antennas, base station antennas, global positioning satellite (GPS) antennas and more.
This new cellular measurement system surpasses existing wireless testing technology, offering more accurate testing at increased speeds. The system operates in a wider frequency range than existing products (including 400 MHz band). It offers measurement accuracy of +/-0.3 dB typically at 800 megahertz (MHz) and measurement time of less than 90 seconds at two-gigahertz (GHz), and enables measurement in the 400 MHz band. Additionally, the system's speed of measurement is less than 90 seconds, whereas, current products on the market typically require five to ten minutes. ASCENT achieves high accuracy and resolution, rapid measurement performance, in a compact dimensioned facility.
"This new technology will transform the antenna measurement market as we know it today because of the incredible accuracy and speed capacity of ASCENT," said Jeffrey Polan, vice president of research and development at Orbit/FR. "Orbit is currently in discussions with several Fortune 500 companies that have already expressed interest in using this cellular measurement system."
The new system will be available from Orbit/FR beginning in October, 1999.
