New DaimlerChrysler President James Holden Addresses Conference Of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives/Detroit Regional ChamberDETROIT, Oct. 4 -- In one of his first public appearances, James Holden, president of DaimlerChrysler AG, addressed the American Chamber of Commerce Executives Leadership Conference Saturday at the UAW/Ford Training Center in Detroit. Hosted by the Detroit Regional Chamber, the 85th annual conference addresses challenges and issues facing chamber of commerce professionals. The conference runs through Monday, Oct. 4. James Holden officially took over as president of DaimlerChrysler Friday, Oct. 1. "Any year the automotive industry sells more than 15 million cars and trucks in the United States is a good year for us. And we've been enjoying those strong, 15 million-plus years every year since 1993. This year, we're forecasting record-breaking sales in excess of 17 million units. That tells us that consumers in each of your cities and towns still have confidence in the economy and money to spend. And that's good not only for us, but also for each of your chamber members and every other economic enterprise in your area." The Detroit Regional Chamber, an organization of nearly 12,000 members, is committed to powering the economy for Southeast Michigan, working to retain and attract jobs and investment to the region and helping regional business expand and grow.
