Hyundai Sales Growth Continues; September Sales Up 83%

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 1 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 15,226 vehicles for the month of September, up
83 percent from one year ago.  September sales were the best since 1988.
Total year-to-date sales are 121,962; a 68 percent increase over last year.
    "With sales of 9,193 units, the Elantra continues to be the volume leader
with sales up 174 percent over the same month last year," said Robert Cosmai,
vice-president of sales for Hyundai Motor America.  Our flagship Sonata
continues to show large sales increases, with a 142 percent increase over last
year," Cosmai added.
    "The Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty, is helping to bring
customers into Hyundai showrooms," Cosmai said.  "Hyundai buyers are covered
by a 10-year/100,000 powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000 mile
bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty and
5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection," he added.
