Nissan Reports an 18.5 Percent Increase in Sales- Trucks Post 31 Percent Sales Increase as Xterra's Popularity Continues to Grow - CARSON, Calif., Oct. 1 -- Bolstered by continued strong truck sales and growing popularity amongst its sedans, Nissan Division of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) posted September sales of 53,364 units, an increase of 18.5 percent versus last year. Some of Nissan's sales highlights for the month of September include: -- Nissan truck sales rose 31.0 percent over September 1998, totaling 26,457 units. -- Sales for the Xterra rose 5.0 percent over last month, totaling 6,578 units in September. -- Quest sales jumped 4.2 percent over a year ago with 3,438 units sold and is up 55.8 percent for the calendar year. -- Frontier Crew Cab accounted for 33.4 percent of the 10,231 Frontiers sold. -- The Nissan Maxima led the division in sales with 11,641 units, an 88.3 percent increase over 1998. -- Altima sales jumped 45.7 percent over a year ago with 10,032 units sold. -- Pathfinder posted sales of 6,210 units while Sentra had sales of 5,216 units. Combined sales for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions for September totaled 60,940 units, up 19.8 percent over a year ago. Combined sales for the calendar year totaled 507,360 units, up 6.8 percent versus last year. Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles totaled 35,505 units during the month, which accounted for 66.5 percent of Nissan's total sales volume. In North America, Nissan's operations include styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing.
