Audi Sales Up 60.2 Percent. Best September in History.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 1 -- Audi of America, Inc. today
announced that its September sales results in the U.S. were up 60.2 percent
over the same month last year (5,912 vs. 3,691). These results mark Audi's
best September ever and its best year-to-date since 1985 with a 44.7 percent
increase over the same period last year (1999 year-to-date sales are 46,746
versus 32,305 last year).
The primary driver of these sales results was continued strength in the A4
and A6 ranges with increases of 50.3 and 47.5 percent respectively. Making a
significant contribution as well was Audi's authentic German sports car, the
TT, with 593 units sold during the month. To date, there have been 3,394 TTs
sold since its introduction in May.
An additional milestone in September was the arrival of the first of
Audi's full 2000 model range at dealerships across the country. In addition
to the TT, new for 2000 are the S4, the A6 2.7 T and the A6 4.2.
Significantly updated for 2000 is Audi's all-aluminum flagship, the A8 with
its new 310 horsepower, five-valve V8 engine.
Audi has displayed this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase for
over four years, or 56 of the last 58 months.
