Genuine Parts Company Completes Acquisition of NAPA Distributor
ATLANTA--Oct. 1, 1999--Genuine Parts Company . Larry Prince, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Genuine Parts Company, announced today the completion of the previously announced acquisition of Brittain Brothers, Inc., a long standing NAPA Distributor. Genuine Parts Company acquired Brittain Brothers in exchange for a combination of cash and Genuine Parts Company stock.Brittain Brothers is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with an additional distribution center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Company serves approximately 178 independently owned NAPA AUTO PARTS stores and 14 company owned stores located in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. Brittain Brothers should have annual sales of approximately $60 million in 1999.
Genuine Parts Company is a distributor of automotive replacement parts in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The Company also distributes industrial replacement parts in the U.S., Canada and Mexico through its Motion Industries subsidiary. S. P. Richards Company, the Office Products Group, distributes product nationwide in the U.S. and in Western Canada. The Electrical/Electronic Group, EIS, Inc., distributes electrical and electronic components throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Genuine Parts Company had 1998 revenues of $6.6 billion and net income of $355.8 million.
