NASCAR: Slim Jim All Pro Series Practice Results

Nashville, Tenn-10/1/99-The final practice prior to Bud Pole qualifying for
the Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring 19th Annual Greased Lightning
All American 400 has just finished and Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Rodney
Childers tops the charts.  The Mooresville, N.C. resident, who is tied with
Coy Gibbs for the Rookie-of-the-Year battle, toured the 0.596-mile
Nashville Speedway USA oval in a time of 18.787 seconds at an average speed
of 114.207 mph.  Closely trailing Childers is Cumming, Ga.'s Larry Raines
with a time of 18.789 seconds equaling an average speed of 114.194 mph.

Two-time defending race champion, and 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series Champion
Freddie Query was third fastest with a time of 18.792 seconds.  Query
topped the speed charts in both of yesterday's practice sessions.  In
yesterday's first practice session his fastest time was 19.113 seconds and
in the second practice session he logged a time of 18.781 seconds at an
average speed of 114.243 mph

Dalton, Ga.'s Bobby Gill was fourth fastest with a time of 18.840 seconds
while  Naples, Fla.'s Billy Bigley, Jr. rounds out the top five with a time
of 18.847 seconds.  Bigley is chasing Wildwood, Fla.'s Wayne Anderson for
the Slim Jim All Pro Series points championship entering this, the final
race of the 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series season.

Rookie Brian Smith, Terry Brooks, Hal Goodson, Donald Long and Steven
Howard round out the top 10.  58 cars are on hand to vie for one of the 40
starting positions in the 19th Annual Greased Lightning All American 400.

Bud Pole qualifying gets underway today at 3:00 CT with the first 25
positions being locked in during two-lap time trials.  Second round time
trials to fill the remaining 15 positions will take place on Saturday
afternoon at 12:30 p.m.  The 19th Annual All American 400 will take the
green flag at 6:00 p.m. CT on Saturday night, the first time that this
prestigious short track race will run under the lights.

The 19th Annual Greased Lightning All American 400 will air on Saturday,
October 16 at 2:00 p.m. ET on the TNN, The Nashville Network.
