Camp Jeep(TM) Captures 'World's Best' Honors at International Award ShowDetroit Office of FCB Worldwide Advertising and Budco Recognized AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 29 -- DaimlerChrysler's Camp Jeep(TM) program earned best in the world honors at the 9th annual World PRO Awards of Excellence, recently hosted by PROMO Magazine and the Association of Promotion Marketing Agencies Worldwide in Chicago. Selected among 500 entries, the 1999 Camp Jeep event brought home World's Best gold awards for both the "copy" and "database management" categories. Within the "copy" segment, Camp Jeep materials developed by the Detroit office of FCB Worldwide were recognized as the World's Best by an international panel of judges. Earning the distinction in the "database management" segment was marketing services firm Budco, which develops and maintains the Camp Jeep participant database in partnership with FCB. "We're very honored to receive worldwide recognition for Camp Jeep, especially considering the high quality of international entries and the comprehensive judging process," said Lou Bitonti, senior manager, Jeep Direct Marketing. "By leveraging the unique expertise of each of our marketing partners, we've been able to make Camp Jeep an annual success and a truly unique experience for our owners." Camp Jeep, designed as a three-day outdoor adventure, provides Jeep owners and their families the opportunity to participate in off-road driving instruction and trails, fly-casting, mountain biking, kayaking and other exhilarating activities typical of the Jeep brand lifestyle. Placing an emphasis on education, entertainment and the environment, more than 8,000 people from 42 states gathered for the 1999 Camp Jeep event which was held in August at the historic Oak Ridge Estate near Charlottesville, Virginia. The World PRO Awards of Excellence is a joint effort of PROMO Magazine and the Association of Promotion Marketing Agencies Worldwide (APMA). The program recognizes outstanding promotion marketing campaigns from around the world.
