CCC's Consumer Services Group Adopts ACORD AL3 Standard
Will Greatly Boost Speed, Efficiency in Processing Third-Party Claims
                                 Transactions

CHICAGO, Sept. 29 -- Extending its ability to efficiently
process third-party claims, the Consumer Services group of CCC Information
Services Inc. announced today that it has adopted ACORD's AL3
(Automation Level 3) Standards for its "state-of-the-art" paperless claims
management system interfaces. AL3 is a leading electronic data interchange
(EDI) standard for insurance and financial services data sharing. By
implementing AL3, Consumer Services will be able to process transactions for
its insurance company clients much more quickly and efficiently. In addition,
when new insurance company clients choose Consumer Services for third-party
administration services, the standards ensure that Consumer Services will be
able to quickly create interfaces for efficient new communications.
"Implementing ACORD-based interface standards is an important step in
building a scalable systems infrastructure that can support a healthy growing
third-party administration business," said Blaine Ornburg, President of
Consumer Services. "It will enable different computers to more efficiently
'talk' to each other or communicate data and thus greatly enhance our ability
to service both our clients and their customers."
ACORD has provided insurance industry standards and support since 1970.
Today, its electronic data sharing, data integration and other standards are
used by more than 1,000 insurance carriers and groups, 35,000 agencies, the
major providers of software and services to the industry, and nonprofit
associations.
A leading third-party administrator of automobile claims, CCC's Consumer
Services group leverages advanced technology and highly efficient
administration processes to help insurers lower claims processing and
administrative costs, control loss costs, and increase customer satisfaction.
Consumer Services will use Policy Coverage, Notice of Loss and Claims
Financial Summary ACORD records. At its clients' request, it also has created
a Claims Transaction Detail record for clients based on design principles and
conventions in ACORD standards. This record provides customer policy
administration systems with the specific financial transaction detail
necessary to support actuarial, financial and reporting functions in their
systems. ACORD (Pearl River, N.Y.) is a nonprofit insurance association whose
mission is to increase the efficiency of the agency distribution system and
the insurance industry as a whole. ACORD accomplishes its mission by
developing and maintaining standard Forms to support policy processing,
providing electronic data interchange (EDI) Standards for the industry, and
promoting the effective use of agency automation and process improvement.
Nearly 1,000 insurance companies are affiliated with ACORD as are 35,000
agencies, the major agency software providers, the national producer
associations, user groups, and other industry associations.
