Bayer's BR and Butyl Units Receive QS-9000 Certification

PITTSBURGH--(AutomotiveWire)--Sept. 28, 1999--Bayer Inc.'s BR and butyl manufacturing units in Sarnia, Ontario, have received QS-9000 certification, becoming among the few rubber manufacturing facilities in the world to receive the coveted certification -- just one year after Bayer's NBR manufacturing unit in Sarnia became the first.
"We're committed to continually enhancing our business processes -- in terms of product quality, customer service and taking a proactive approach to meeting our customers' needs," said Dennis Loucks, Manufacturing Manager at the Sarnia plant. "We led the way toward QS-9000 certification for a rubber manufacturer with our NBR unit, and now we're continuing to sharpen Bayer's competitive edge with QS-9000 certification of our BR and butyl units."
The QS-9000 certification, third edition, was awarded to Bayer Inc.'s BR and butyl facilities after an intensive audit in June of the units' manufacturing processes, strategic business planning and customer satisfaction. The units officially received the certification in August. During the audit, Bayer's NBR unit in Sarnia, which was the first rubber manufacturing facility worldwide to receive QS-9000 certification, second edition, received the updated, more stringent third edition certification.
