Ford Assists Earthquake Victims in TaiwanTAIPEI, Taiwan, Sept. 24 -- Ford Motor Company and its partners in Taiwan will contribute $620,000 (20 million New Taiwan dollars) to assist relief efforts for victims of the recent earthquake in Taiwan. Ford Lio Ho Motor Company Ltd. -- the company's manufacturing and vehicle assembly complex in Taiwan, Ford Asia Pacific Operations, Ford Motor Company Fund and Visteon Automotive Systems will contribute $310,000 to provide community support. The Lio Ho Group, Ford Motor Company's partner in Taiwan, also will contribute $310,000 to the relief efforts. The earthquake has claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people to date, with approximately 8,500 reported injured and some 300 people still reported missing. "Supporting the earthquake relief effort is part of our continuing goal to better serve our customers and give back to the communities where we do business," said John Parker, president, Ford Lio Ho Taiwan. "Our responsibilities extend far beyond the assembly line. To be successful, a company must provide for, and be active in the communities in which it operates." Ford Lio Ho employs nearly 2,000 hourly and salaried employees at its facilities in Chung Li, Taiwan -- Ford Lio Ho Assembly and Ford Lio Ho Engine. Ford Lio Ho is a joint venture company with Ford Motor Company holding a 70 percent interest.
