Tracks: Lebanon Valley to host Bowlathon for Leukemia Society
25 September 1999
WEST LEBANON, NY- Stock car racing has many "lanes", this Fall Lebanon Valley is going to add another, the bowling "lane". Lebanon Valley has come up with what appears to be a very fun way to raise money for the Leukemia Society and the Lebanon Valley drivers point fund. The Bowlers Club on Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham, New York will be the site of this 3-day event. The Bowl-a-thon will be opened to any and all individuals that want to raise money for a good cause. To participate in the event bowlers will go out and get pledges for their bowling effort. The speedway is looking for teams to be assembled consisting of five individuals. The goal is to get two thousand people to participate in this great charity event. If raising money for good causes was not enough there will be prizes for teams and individuals during the event. Several of the loyal Valley sponsors have stepped forward to help make this event a success. Team Goewey, CARQUEST, COORS, Ackner Racing Equipment, Capital Speed Equipment, T-Shirt Graphics and MDR Printers are all giving something to make this event special. The speedway has also received a generous donation from Brian Davies, who currently crews on the Winston Cup #42 of Joe Nemecheck. Team Sabco has been very kind to send several sheetmetal items from the Winston Cup cars of Nemecheck and Sterling Marlin. With Nemecheck cracking into the win column those items could become collector pieces. There will also be Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck tickets that will be given put as prizes. Don't be surprised to see some more special items that could be up for grabs. Lebanon Valley sends out a big thanks to Team Sabco and all of the sponsors that have joined up to support the Lebanon Valley Bowl-a-thon. Now it is up to all the drivers, crews, officials and race fans to make this event possibly. We cannot make it happen without you knocking down a few pins for a good cause. Everyone will have a good time and what a fun way to spent a few hours. This is a great chance for fans to get up close and personal with some of the Lebanon Valley drivers. www.lebanonvalley.com.
