Federal-Mogul Hosts Stop of Legendary Cannonball ClassicSOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 22 -- On Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 a.m., 20 classic cars from the 1999 Federal-Mogul Cannonball Classic will arrive at Federal-Mogul World headquarters in Southfield, Michigan signaling the start of the third leg of the rally. The Cannonball Classic is a cross-country trip and a toned-down version of the historic Cannonball Run and is not a race or competition, but a rally. The trip starts in New York City at Rockefeller Center and ends six days and 3,000 miles later in Redondo Beach, California. The originator of the Cannonball Run, Brock Yates, who wrote the "Smokey & the Bandit" and "The Cannonball Run" movies, runs the event and is a driver this year. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit will be presented with $5,000 raised from the proceeds of this event. A weeklong community clothing drive for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Clothing Plus program is expected to raise an additional $2,000. Federal-Mogul actively supports a year round partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters promoting the mentoring of youth by employee volunteers. The community is invited to donate a bag of clothing to Big Brothers Big Sisters, view the cars, meet the drivers and cheer them on as they leave Southfield at 9 a.m. headed for Federal-Mogul's training center in St. Louis, Missouri.
