ANT Ltd. Announces Technology Partnership with Integrated Systems Inc. -- ISI; First in Embedded Communications Industry to Provide Seamless Software Solution for Internet Appliances

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Sept. 21, 1999--ANT Ltd. announced today a strategic technology partnership with ISI where, for the first time, OEM customers will be able to take a complete reference platform -- including the browser, pSOS +(R) operating system, and hardware -- and customize it for their own product(s) seamlessly, quickly, and cost effectively.
ANT develops and markets innovative communications software for the Embedded Communications Appliance Sector (ECAS). ANT's software is designed to be embedded into devices that have communication functionality as a primary or secondary feature including palm-top computers or mobile phones and consumer entertainment/information systems such as digital televisions, network computers, set-top boxes and games consoles.
Because of the features inherent in its technology, ANT offers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and the technology partners that supply them, three significant advantages: far greater speed to market, lowest possible engineering cost, and freedom to leverage corporate identity.
"To date, porting browsers to hardware platforms has been difficult, time consuming, and costly. Our synergistic partnership with ISI provides very compelling benefits to our customers in each of these areas." said Simon Woodward, CEO, ANT Ltd.
For example, where the porting process of competitive products can take up to six months and cost as much as half-a-million dollars, porting ANT's browser and email client, Fresco(TM) and SimplEmail respectively, to ISI's pre-integrated reference design platforms can be accomplished in a matter of days at about a tenth of the cost.
"ANT Ltd. is an excellent example of a partner who can provide technology and easy, seamless porting to our operating system (pSOS+). The relationship offers customers the ability to develop state-of-the-art Internet apppliances in record time." said Chuck Boesenberg, president and CEO of ISI.

    Business Model

ANT's licensing model is attuned to the requirements of OEM product development, manufacturing, and distribution. ANT's technology will be demonstrated running on pSOS+ in ISI's booth number 828 at the Embedded Systems Conference West, San Jose, Calif., Sept. 28-30.
