Cummins Engine Makes Announcement

    COLUMBUS, Ind.--Sept. 20, 1999--Cummins Engine Co. Inc. today announced that Roberto Cordaro, Cummins' Executive Vice President and Group President - Automotive, will resign from the Company effective October 1 to pursue other opportunities.
    "My decision to leave Cummins has been a difficult one, and it was reached only after considerable deliberation," said Cordaro. "With the launch of the Signature 600 and other new heavy-duty engines complete, the timing was right for me to look at other opportunities. I have enjoyed working with the people of Cummins, with the distributor organization and with customers around the world. I wish them continued success."
    "After 21 years of working with Roberto as a colleague and knowing him as a friend, I wish him nothing but the best in his new endeavors," said Cummins Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jim Henderson. "His contributions during those years with us have been enormous, and we thank him."
    Cordaro joined Cummins Brasil in 1978 as Director - Marketing. He moved to Cummins in Columbus, Indiana, ten years later, becoming Vice President - North American Marketing. In 1990, he was named Group Vice President - Marketing. In 1996, Cordaro was named Executive Vice President and Group President of Cummins' automotive business unit, the company's largest, with sales of $2.9 billion in 1998.
