Auto Club Discounts Insurance Rates for Eighth Time Since 1993

LOS ANGELES--Sept. 17, 1999--The Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club is reducing its auto insurance rates for the eighth time in six years.
Since 1993, Auto Club policyholders have seen their premiums drop by an average of 27.4 percent. This latest rate reduction will save customers $27 million, bringing total annual premium savings to $272 million.
"We have worked hard to push down insurance costs by aggressively fighting fraud, and Auto Club policyholders are reaping the benefits," said Larry Baker, the Auto Club's senior vice president for insurance.
The latest rate reduction, approved by the California Department of Insurance late last week, will result in an average auto premium decrease of 2.5 percent. It will take effect Nov. 1.
The Automobile Club of Southern California, the largest affiliate of the AAA, has been serving members since 1900. Today, the Auto Club's members benefit by the organization's emergency road service, insurance products and services, travel agency, financial products, automotive pricing, buying and financing programs, automotive testing and analysis, trip planning services, highway and transportation safety programs and legislative advocacy. Information about these products and services is available on the Auto Club's Web site at www.aaa-calif.com.
