CASCAR Castrol Super Series West
Regina, SK / King's Park 150

Dowler wins second of season, in Saskatchewan

REGINA, SK - It took until September 11 for the CASCAR Castrol Super Series
West to have a repeat winner in 1999. On Saturday, at Regina's King's Park
Speedway, Edmonton's Kevin Dowler picked up his second feature checkered
flag of the season, winning the Canadian Tire (Regina) - Harvard Broadcast
Inc. 150.

Dowler's Ford Quality Care Service Taurus started fifth in the 20-car
field and was running second when race leader Carl Harr (St. Albert, AB /
Alberta GM Dealers Chevrolet) was involved in a double-spin incident with
pre-race points leader Dan Shirley, on lap 58. The two got together as Harr
was attempting to lap the Saskatoon, SK resident and turned together, into
the infield grass. With that, Dowler assumed the lead.

The race continued, under green, for a lap before the caution flag came
out. After five more laps of running under the yellow, the long-threatening
rains came and inspired a red flag.

The race was then halted for an hour and a half in hopes that the wetness
would subside. But after the lengthy delay, there was still no indication
that the wet, cold weather would break. Under a steady downfall, the
decision was made to resume the race, under yellow, in order to get to the
midway point of the scheduled 150 lapper. The cars circled, with Dowler on
point, until lap 76 when the event was ruled 'official'.

"After the way I've lost some races this year, I'll surely take that one,"
said Dowler, after the race.

Steve Jefferson (Mopar Batteries Dodge / Prince George, BC) finished second
and moved to the top of the Western points chase with one race remaining,
this weekend in Calgary, AB. Kim Richard (Cdn. Property Investments
Chevrolet / Calgary, AB) started and finished third at King's Park.

Heading to this Saturday night's Race City season finale, Jefferson holds
a 52 point lead over Shirley (NTN Bearings Chevy / Saskatoon, SK) in his
quest for a first CASCAR West crown.
