Wescast Appoints New Chief Financial Officer
BRANTFORD, Ontario--Sept. 15, 1999--Wescast Industries Inc. announced today the appointment of Mr. James Slattery to the position of Chief Financial Officer.Mr. Slattery will report directly to Raymond T. Finnie, the Company's President, and Chief Executive Officer. He will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the Company as well as directing all global corporate development activities.

Mr. Slattery served as partner at a leading Canadian professional services firm before joining Wescast in March 1997 as Vice President Corporate Development. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University.
Wescast Industries Inc. is the largest manufacturer and supplier of exhaust manifolds for passenger cars and light trucks in the world. In addition, the Company produces pressure retaining high-alloy cast steel pump components for the petrochemical, pulp and paper and food processing industries. The Company has six facilities throughout Southwestern Ontario and Detroit Michigan, and employs 1,700 people.
