Meritor Automotive Elects Thomas Gosnell Corporate Officer
    TROY, Mich., Sept. 15 -- Meritor Automotive Inc.
announced today that its board of directors has elected Thomas A. Gosnell as
president of its Aftermarket business and a senior vice president of the
company, reporting directly to Meritor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
Larry D. Yost.  In this position, Gosnell is responsible for directing the
company's global aftermarket sales and service business.
    "Tom's extensive knowledge of the automotive industry, experience in the
aftermarket business and understanding of how to best leverage a global
distribution network are assets which will help Meritor grow its aftermarket
product capabilities and expand its presence around the world," Yost stated.
"Tom and his team will support Meritor's strategy to capture new market
opportunities and increase our sales revenues by concentrating on developing a
broader aftermarket product portfolio, delivering best-in-class service, and
capitalizing on and using leading distribution technologies."
    Prior to his current position, Gosnell was vice president and general
manager of Worldwide Aftermarket Services, and previously served as vice
president and general manager for Heavy Vehicle Systems aftermarket business.
Gosnell holds a bachelor's degree from Denison University and a master's
degree in business administration from Xavier University.
    Meritor, with 1998 sales of more than $3.8 billion, is a global supplier
of a broad range of components and systems for commercial, specialty and light
vehicle OEMs and the aftermarket.  Meritor consists of two businesses:  Heavy
Vehicle Systems, a leading supplier of drivetrain systems and components for
medium- and heavy-duty trucks, trailers and off-highway equipment and
specialty vehicles, including military, bus and coach, and fire and rescue;
and Light Vehicle Systems, a major supplier of roof, door, access control,
suspension and seat adjusting systems, and wheel products for passenger cars,
light trucks and sport utility vehicles.
