New SIMUL8 Corp. Debuts Simulation Software; Innovative Software Combines Power, Ease-of-Use and Affordability

DETROIT--Sept. 14, 1999--Visual Thinking International(TM) Ltd., developers of the fastest-growing Windows-based simulation software, Tuesday announced the forming of a new U.S.-based company, SIMUL8(TM) Corp., based in Herndon, Va.
SIMUL8 Corp. will provide sales, support and implementation services of the SIMUL8 process management software to medium-size and enterprise-class companies. The software enables users to build and animate models, improve process effectiveness, pinpoint bottlenecks and communicate the results. Visual Thinking International will remain focused on product development and technology innovation.
"We're excited to launch this new venture to address the rapidly growing opportunities in the simulation software market," said Mark Elder, chief executive officer of SIMUL8 Corp. "Our SIMUL8 software solution is designed to help people make better business decisions by providing powerful simulation, analysis and modeling capabilities at an unprecedented price to performance ratio."
SIMUL8 Corp. will provide sales, marketing, technical support and implementation services for the SIMUL8 process simulation product line. The company has regional sales offices and representatives for developing and managing vertical and horizontal market opportunities along with its VAR and distribution channel.
SIMUL8 Corp. maintains a technical support staff as well as experienced simulation consultants to assist customers with complex simulation implementations and customization.
The SIMUL8 process simulation software is designed to deliver all the power, scalability and capabilities of high-end systems costing over $15,000 per user. However, SIMUL8 differentiates itself from its competitors in that it is much quicker to implement, easier to use, and sells for a fraction of the price at $495.
Managers, business analysts, and process improvement teams in companies ranging from large automotive and manufacturing corporations to small offices utilize SIMUL8 software to build and animate models, analyze processes, pinpoint bottlenecks, validate plans, test improvement ideas in a risk free environment and communicate those cost and time savings results to others.
SIMUL8 software includes unique and powerful features like the SIMUL8 Assistant(TM), Templates and Wizards that help to make simulation models more accurate and also easier to build from scratch. When activated, the SIMUL8 Assistant monitors and checks for actions or patterns of behavior that may lead to confusion, mistakes or incorrect analysis conclusions.
A warning button flashes when the SIMUL8 Assistant has advice that may be useful for the user. Sample templates and a Wizard provide users with an intuitive and easy way to start building a simulation model by offering a variety of examples to start with and then guiding them step by step via the Wizard towards completion.
The SIMUL8 process simulation software is a Windows-based application that runs under Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT 4.0 or higher and is compatible with industry-standard networks including Microsoft and Novell. The recommended hardware for SIMUL8 is a Pentium-class IBM PC compatible operating at 200Mhz or higher and with 64Mb of RAM.
SIMUL8 software and plug-ins are fully Year 2000 compliant. See company Web site (http://www.SIMUL8.com/y2k.htm) for full Y2K statement.
SIMUL8 process simulation software is widely used and respected worldwide for its industry-leading power, scalability, ease of use and affordability. It is available in single-user and multi-user versions with prices starting at $495 per user. In addition to the core SIMUL8 software, the company offers several optional enhancement modules that operate as plug-ins and provide specialized capabilities.
SIMUL8 Profit(TM) is a financial reporting and ROI analysis tool. SIMUL8 TimeView(TM) adds historical activity reports and Gantt charts. SIMUL8 OPTIMIZ(TM) adjusts simulations for optimal performance via Neural Network technology. And SIMUL8 Transport(TM) provides specialized features for materials handling.
Visual Thinking International was founded in 1994 and first began shipping its SIMUL8 process simulation software in 1995. Since then, SIMUL8 software has sold over 48,000 user licenses worldwide, making it a leader in Windows-based simulation software and one of the fastest growing simulation software solutions in the world.
Among the many notable companies using SIMUL8 are: IBM, Bell Laboratories, Motorola, Ford Motor Co., Boeing Aircraft, British Airways, Virgin Airways, Hewlett Packard Corp., Coca-Cola Bottling, the U.S. Air Force, British Steel and Nissan Motors UK.
