Ryder TRS Announces 'Home Free' Sweepstakes Winners
Winners Receive Free Mortgage for One Full Year
DENVER, Sept. 13 -- Ryder TRS, the nation's second largest
consumer truck rental company and a subsidiary of Budget Group, Inc.
, today announced two grand prize winners in its consumer
sweepstakes promotion, Home Free with Ryder TRS. Kim Myers, a Ft. Mill, South
Carolina resident, and Richard Beattie, a Friendswood, Texas resident, both
won free mortgage payments (up to $12,000 total) for one full year.
Mr. Beattie, who rented a 24' truck from Ryder TRS to move into his new
home in the Friendswood community, said of his winning sweepstakes card, "I
can't believe it. We've rented three Ryder TRS trucks in the past few months
to move our daughter to college and then ourselves for the first time in 20
years. To win free mortgage for a year is quite a bonus for renting from
Ryder TRS."
An estimated 21 million households will move during the course of 1999,
with a full third of moves taking place during the summer months. The Home
Free with Ryder TRS sweepstakes officially kicked-off the beginning of the
busy summer moving season in June and will continue to run through
September 30, 1999.
Remaining sweepstakes rewards include one grand prize award of free
mortgage or rent payments for one full year, up to $12,000, and a number of
$250 Sears gift certificates. Other discounts range from $25 on local rentals
and $100 on one-way rentals to instant-win discounts of $5 on hand truck or
furniture pad rentals.
Home Free scratch-off sweepstakes cards can be obtained from any of the
nearly 3,500 participating Ryder TRS dealerships and more than 8,000
participating apartment communities. Consumers simply bring their cards to
any Ryder TRS dealership to scratch off possible winning prizes or discounts.
Moving Accessories
Approximately 75 percent of moving households move themselves, and 40
percent of those households rent trucks for their moves, according to
Imagitas, the company that publishes the Mover's Guide with the U.S. Postal
Service. And, more than 30 percent of moving households purchase boxes for
their move, to the tune of 6.5 million households a year. In addition to

For just $49 consumers can buy an apartment package, which includes a
variety of boxes and tape, and for only $279 consumers can buy a 24' truck
package inclusive of 74 boxes and cartons, bubble pack, tape, twine and other
accessories. Purchasing moving boxes online from Ryder TRS offers consumers
variety and convenience, and they are designed to provide maximum protection.
