Neiman Marcus To Feature The BMW X5 As One Of The Ultimate Gifts In 1999 Christmas Catalog
Catalog to Feature Exclusive Edition of All-New Sports Activity Vehicle

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Sept. 13 -- This holiday season it
won't matter if you're naughty or nice because the ultimate holiday gift -- a
limited edition of BMW's all-new X5 Sports Activity Vehicle -- can be reserved
through the 1999 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book.
BMW will produce only 50 of its 2001 model year Sports Activity Vehicles
with the exclusive impala brown metallic exterior color. Luxury and
performance are the focus for the "exclusive edition" vehicle, which can be
reserved only through the premium catalog.
Customers who reserve the "exclusive edition" X5 through the much
anticipated Neiman Marcus Christmas Book will also be given the opportunity to
participate in a three-day, two-night experience starting at BMW's new
Performance Center in Spartanburg, S.C. There, "exclusive edition" X5
purchasers will be able to hone their driving skills in a half-day, high
performance driving program on a course designed expressly for driving
instruction. During this program, drivers will receive one-on-one instruction
from professional drivers who help them to develop, train and test their
reflexes in everyday and emergency driving situations.
The thrill continues with a drive in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains,
where the new owners can experience an X5 on the beautiful winding roads and
take in the mountain air. The next day, the trip continues with a special
visit to the Biltmore estate.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price of this special X5 is listed at
$57,995 in the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. (The price includes shipping and
handling and excludes taxes, license, registration and dealer installed
options.) As an added bonus, BMW will make a $1,000 contribution in the name
of each vehicle purchaser to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
BMW's X5 will only be available through authorized BMW SAV centers. The
Neiman Marcus "exclusive edition" X5 can be reserved only through Neiman
Marcus. Customers who reserve the "exclusive edition" X5 through the Neiman
Marcus Christmas Book should expect delivery of their Sports Activity Vehicles
through authorized BMW SAV centers in May / June 2000. For more information,
call 888-301-4BMW (4269).
By its very nature, the X5 represents a technological evolution for BMW
and an entirely new driving dimension. Built to handle virtually any road,
any time, for any reason, the X5 is an agile, powerful vehicle well suited for
all kinds of sports and leisure activities. With its innovative styling,
unitized body and independent suspension, the X5 sets lofty standards in terms
of overall handling and safety -- on good and poor road conditions.
The "exclusive edition" X5 features an impala brown exterior color and
Titanium-line trim. The vehicle has a 4.4-liter V-8 engine and is equipped
with all-wheel-drive using BMW's new Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
The vehicle also features 19-inch wheels, park distance control and an
on-board navigation system. Xenon headlamps and a premium hi-fi sound system
with 10 speakers also are included. The Sports Activity Vehicle is outfitted
with light beige leather interior, privacy glass and heated front seats.
The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book will be distributed to millions of homes
in the U.S. and abroad. Subscriptions for the Christmas Book are $6.50 and
can be ordered by calling 1-800-NEIMANS (634-6267).
