Hayes Lemmerz International Names Robert Herr to the Position Of President of the North American Cast Aluminum Wheels Business Unit

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Sept. 9 -- Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , one of the leading suppliers of automotive and commercial
highway wheels, brakes, suspension, structural and other light weight
components to the global transportation industry, announced that it has named
automotive industry veteran Robert Herr to the position of President of
Hayes Lemmerz's North American Cast Aluminum Wheels Business Unit.  Prior to
that position, Mr. Herr was President and Chief Operating Officer at
CMI International, where he was responsible for manufacturing operations.
    Mr. Herr will report to Ron Kolakowski, President of Hayes Lemmerz's North
American Automotive Wheels Group.
    Mr. Herr began his career with General Motors starting in September 1955
and gained extensive casting experience and held various management positions,
including Plant Manager at three of GM's foundry facilities.  His professional
affiliations include memberships with American Foundryman's Society of
Automotive Engineers, Ductile Iron Society, the Foundry Association and the
North American Die Casting Association.
    Mr. Herr received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the
General Motors Institute.
