James Benjamin Named Corporate Controller at SPX Corporation

James Benjamin Named Corporate Controller at SPX Corporation
    MUSKEGON, Mich., Sept. 7 -- SPX Corporation today
announced that it has named James Benjamin as Corporate Controller.
Mr. Benjamin joins SPX from Harnischfeger Industries in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
where he was Vice President and Corporate Controller.
    Mr. Benjamin began his business career as an Auditor with Price
Waterhouse.  During his 12 years with Price Waterhouse he held a series of
positions with increasing responsibilities, including two years in London,
England.  In 1986, Mr. Benjamin joined Harnischfeger as Vice President and
Corporate Controller.
    He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of
Illinois, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
    Commenting on the announcement, Patrick J. O'Leary, Vice President
Finance, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, said, "Jim has excellent
technical credentials and experience with the Economic Value Added financial
management system.  With Jim's extensive experience and knowledge, I know he
will be a valued member of our leadership team."
