Ford Focus Live Commercials Debut on MTV's Video Music Awards September 9
    NEW YORK, Sept. 6 -- Ford Motor Company will launch
the biggest live television ad campaign in history Thursday, Sept. 9 during
the MTV Video Music Awards.  Three live ads, featuring Annabelle Gurwitch of
TBS' Dinner & A Movie and the all-new Ford Focus will air from 8-11 p.m. EST.
The live ads will be the first of more than 60 live commercials to be aired
during the next six months from locations throughout the United States.
    The commercials Sept. 9 will air live from the streets of  New York City
near the MTV Video Music Awards show which is being held at the Metropolitan
Opera House.  The live format of the innovative ads is designed to target the
Gen X and Echo Boomer market, who live their lives in a fast-paced '24/7'
style.
    The live campaign will continue through March 2000 on network prime-time
programs that attract young audiences, including NBC's Friends, Jesse and
Frasier; ABC's Drew Carey and The Norm Show; FOX's Simpsons and Ally McBeal.

    About the Car
    Focus is setting a new standard in the American small-car segment.  With
segment-leading levels of  roominess, comfort, driving dynamics and safety,
Focus will be on sale in October in three body styles: a sporty three-door,
four-door sedan and wagon.  Prices start at $12,280.

    About Annabelle
    Annabelle Gurwitch is in her fourth season of hosting TBS' popular Friday
night series Dinner & A Movie, and was nominated for an ACE award as "Best
Entertainment Host" in that role.  She was also nominated for an ACE for Best
Actress in a Comedy Series when she anchored HBO's award-winning Not
Necessarily the News.
