Andrew Masterman Named President of Engine Management For TI Group

Andrew Masterman Named President of Engine Management For TI Group Automotive Systems, Including Walbro Small Engine Operations
    DETROIT, Sept. 6 -- Andrew V. Masterman has been named
president of Engine Management for TI Group Automotive Systems, a newly-formed
business unit of UK-based TI Group plc.  The appointment was announced by
Allan Welsh, chief executive officer, TI Group Automotive Systems.
    Masterman is responsible for the small engine operations of Walbro
Corporation, which was recently acquired by TI Group.  Walbro's small engine
products include carburetors, fuel injection systems, ignition systems, and
fuel storage and delivery systems incorporating fuel tanks, pumps and modules.
    "Walbro is a strong name in the small engine industry, and we intend to
continue to market under the Walbro name," Welsh said.
    "We are excited about the growth potential in the small engine industry,"
Welsh added.  "As president of Engine Management, Andrew Masterman will report
directly to me.  This will allow us to focus effectively on the unique needs
and opportunities within the small engine industry."
    Prior to this appointment, Masterman served as president, Walbro Asia
Pacific, where he was responsible for Walbro's small engine and automotive
operations in that region.  He previously held the posts of president, Walbro
Japan, and managing director, Walbro Singapore.  Prior to joining Walbro, he
served as a senior financial analyst at Intel Corporation.
    Masterman holds a master's degree in business administration, a master of
science in industrial and operations engineering and a master of arts in
Japanese studies, all from the University of Michigan.  He also holds a
bachelor of arts in political science from Colorado College.
    Masterman will relocate to Tucson, Arizona, from Japan.
    TI Group Automotive Systems was formed following the Walbro acquisition,
combining Walbro with Bundy, a leading manufacturer of fluid carrying products
including brake, powertrain and fuel lines and connectors.  The combination
creates a unique global supplier of complete fuel storage and delivery
systems.  The new unit would have had 1998 annual revenues of more than $2.2
billion with 20,000 employees at 150 facilities around the world.
