Increased August Sales Reported By Toyota's Kansas City Region
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 2 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region
continues to build sales momentum for 1999 with August car sales of 2,817, a
four percent increase over August 1998 when sales totaled 2,704.
"The Summer sales rally for the Kansas City Region is ending on a high
note for 1999," said Paul Holdridge, general manager of the Kansas City
Region. "Our U.S.-built Camry, Solara and Sienna minivan, accounted for
better than half of our sales. With higher-than-expected sales of the new
Indiana-built full-size Tundra pickup truck, total truck sales were up 55
percent over last August," Holdridge said. "Our dealers are excited to have
this new full-size truck for consumers in their showrooms."
Camry sales, including Solara, led the way for August, with 1,405 vehicles
sold, an 11 percent increase for the Camry line.
"Our dealers are confident they will be able to sustain their sales
momentum in the upcoming Fall months," Holdridge said.
The Toyota Kansas City Region includes 74 dealers in Iowa, Kansas, South
and North Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska.
