Jaguar Cars Posts Best August Ever
MAHWAH, N.J., Sept. 2 -- Jaguar Cars today announced that it
achieved a new sales record in the United States for the month of August by
selling 3,457 cars. The company topped the previous best August record of
2,084 cars in 1987 and was up 87 percent compared with the same month last
year.
For the month, XJ Series sedan sales totaled 1,038, XK8 sports car sales
were 587 and sales of the all-new S-TYPE sedan were 1,832. Total year-to-date
sales were 20,352, up 41 percent compared with the first eight months of 1998,
making this the best ever start for a calendar year.
In Canada, sales were up 164 percent compared with August 1998. Jaguar
Canada sold 185 cars during the month, topping the same period last year by
115 cars.
