BMW Reports Best August Sales Ever with 32 Percent Sales Increase
BMW Outsells All Luxury Passenger Car Competitors
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Sept. 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc.
outsold all luxury passenger car competitors in August, reporting sales of
13,781 automobiles for the best August in its history. That's an increase of
31.5 percent over the 10,477 automobiles sold last August. Outselling all
luxury passenger car competitors so far this year, BMW also reported the
company's strongest year-to-date sales of 105,182 automobiles, compared to
88,485 a year ago, an increase of 19 percent.
Worth noting is an increase of 76 percent in BMW 3 Series sales,
reflecting the first full month that the new model year 2000 3 Series coupes
were on sale in this market.
Land Rover North America, Inc. reported its best August ever with sales of
2,518 vehicles, compared to 1,714 a year ago, an increase of 47 percent.
Year-to-date sales jumped 35 percent, to 18,215 vehicles. Land Rover reported
year-to-date sales of 13,535 a year ago.
Consolidated August sales for the BMW Group jumped 37 percent to
16,299 (BMW: 13,781; Land Rover: 2,518) and consolidated year-to-date sales
increased 20.5 percent to 123,397 vehicles (BMW: 105,182; Land Rover 18,215).
