Oxford Automotive, Inc. Breaks Record Raising Funds for Food Bank of Oakland CountyTROY, Mich., Sept. 2 -- Oxford Automotive, Inc., a Tier One automotive supplier, is being recognized for its outstanding contribution to the Food Bank of Oakland County. Forty-one area companies competed over two weeks to raise a total of $36,000. Of this $36,000, Oxford Automotive contributed $22,000 to exceed the total amount of funds raised in last year's competition. In addition to the accrued funds, employees at Oxford worked hard to collect 100 pounds of food for the Food Bank. This year's proceeds will be distributed to over 140 local emergency food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens which go to senior citizens, children, and needy families, and the "working poor" throughout Oakland County. "Because of Oakland County's economic status, most people would not think that it has a hunger problem. However, even in areas that appear to have a great deal of wealth, there is often a considerable degree of poverty that needs to be addressed," said Diane Ritter, spokesperson for the Food Bank. "We are overwhelmed by the money Oxford Automotive has donated; it's the most we've ever received from one single source in the five years we've had this food drive." Oxford Automotive, Inc., headquartered in Troy, Michigan, is a leading full service Tier One designer and producer of high-quality, engineered metal components, assemblies and modules used by automotive OEMs. Oxford currently operates 24 facilities with state-of-the-art technologies in metal stamping, rollforming, welding and assembly equipment.
