BMW, Bosch, Ford to Headline New Conference 'E-Connecting the International Automotive Industry'

    MAHWAH, N.J.--Sept. 2, 1999--

Debut Conference to Focus on Secure Business-to-Business e-Commerce
and the Streamlining of the Automotive Supply Chain

RADGUARD, the leading producer of IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions, announced today a new conference focused specifically on, and designed especially for, the international automotive industry. The mission of the conference, dubbed "E-connecting the International Automotive Industry," is to investigate the impact of secure electronic commerce applications on the industry's business process. The debut conference will be held November 8-9, 1999 at the Hilton Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany.
"If a key business of the automotive industry is to go enterprise, we have to support the key success factors, which are integration and communication," said Frank Neugebauer, European Network eXchange (ENX) project leader. "The key enablers are web technologies and e-business. ENX is our European approach to going enterprise, and events such as this provide the opportunity to discuss these issues on an industry-wide level."
The debut event has attracted attention from experts and visionaries from within the automotive industry. The roster of prominent speakers includes senior executives from such organizations as Atos GmbH, BMW, Bosch GmbH, Dassault Systems, Deutsche Telekom, Entrust Technologies, Ford, Viag Interkom, Network Management AB, RADGUARD and others.
"Like other manufacturing sectors, the international automotive industry is faced with system-level challenges that require industry-wide cooperation to be effectively resolved," said Elad Shaviv, vice president of sales and marketing for RADGUARD. "This event was created to address these challenges and to provide a forum for industry luminaries and network professionals to share their ideas, experiences and solutions. We've attracted top-notch talent to present and speak at the event, and we are looking forward to the debut conference," concluded Shaviv.
The event will be held over two days, and will include six sessions:

-- Session 1, called "IT applications and the automotive industry", will address such technologies as Computer Assisted Design (CAD), Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), supply chain coordination, and Database applications.
-- Session 2, "Introduction to Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and its use in e-connectivity applications" will include sessions on topics such as IP Security (IPSec) and Public key infrastructure (PKI).
-- Session 3, "Service providers - the exchange business model in the framework of service offerings" will give attendees insight into building the well-known ENX, and highlight how to provide services to exchange members of all sizes.
-- Session 4, "Car industry exchanges throughout the world" includes case studies on the first industry network, the U.S. Automotive Network eXchange (ANX), RAPIDES - the French pilot exchange network, and others.
-- Session 5, "Using IT applications across the exchange and their incorporation into corporate networks" will include case studies from the perspective of the automobile manufacturers.
-- And Session 6, "The suppliers, large, medium and small scale - linking to network exchanges, communications with OEMs and the supply processes" will highlight the view form the supply side.
