Hyundai Sales Continue to Climb: August Sales Up 81%; Best Sales Month for Elantra in Vehicle's History

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 1 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 17,838 vehicles for the month of August, up 81
percent from one year ago.  Total year-to-date sales are 106,736.
    "By mid-August Hyundai sales had equaled last year's total sales number.
Year-to-date sales are up over 66 percent over last year," said Hyundai Motor
America's Vice President of Sales, Robert Cosmai.
    "With sales of 9,434 units, August was the best sales month in the history
of the Elantra model -- a 142% increase over the same month last year.  Our
flagship Sonata is also seeing big sales increases, showing a 203% increase
over the same month last year," said Cosmai.
    "In addition, the Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty, is helping
to bring customers into Hyundai showrooms," Cosmai said.  "Hyundai buyers are
covered by a 10-year/100,000 powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000 mile
bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 6-year/100,000-mile perforation warranty and
5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection," he added.
