Tecumseh Products Company Announces Product RecallTECUMSEH, Mich., Aug. 31 -- Tecumseh Products Company (Nasdaq: TECUA, TECUB) has identified a manufacturing problem that causes a pinhole leak in the fuel lines of a small percentage of engines built after April 30, 1999 primarily for snow throwers. Tecumseh has received no reports of accidents due to the damaged fuel lines. Nonetheless, Tecumseh has taken immediate steps to update all OEM customers and dealers authorized to sell or repair Tecumseh engines, and has initiated the process with the Consumer Product Safety Commission of voluntarily recalling and repairing all 118,000 potentially effected engines. Tecumseh is a full-line independent global manufacturer of hermetic compressors for air conditioning and refrigeration products, gasoline engines and power train products for lawn and garden applications, and pumps.
