Tecumseh Products Company Announces Product Recall
TECUMSEH, Mich., Aug. 31 -- Tecumseh Products Company
(Nasdaq: TECUA, TECUB) has identified a manufacturing problem that causes a
pinhole leak in the fuel lines of a small percentage of engines built after
April 30, 1999 primarily for snow throwers. Tecumseh has received no reports
of accidents due to the damaged fuel lines. Nonetheless, Tecumseh has taken
immediate steps to update all OEM customers and dealers authorized to sell or
repair Tecumseh engines, and has initiated the process with the Consumer
Product Safety Commission of voluntarily recalling and repairing all 118,000
potentially effected engines.
Tecumseh is a full-line independent global manufacturer of hermetic
compressors for air conditioning and refrigeration products, gasoline engines
and power train products for lawn and garden applications, and pumps.
